An image of a British Blue Butterfly captured in the Wildlife friendly foliage of St Catherine's Hill located on the outskirts of Winchester Hampshire. Of particular interest is the presence of a parasitic tick on the butterfly located near the eye — A British Common Blue Butterfly. Unfortunately it has become a host to a parasitic tick that can be seen located at the base of the wing just below the eye.

A small pocket book that I have on Fungi and Mushrooms identifies the mushroom in the image above as a Turkey Tail (Trametes Coriolus Versicolor) mushroom. I photographed it growing on a dead tree near to my home.

The damaged storage jars in the remains of a shop in the Roman City of Herculaneum that was destroyed in 79 AD by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
